Adult General Otolaryngology
Like many medical specialties, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery now has many sub-specialists. The general Otolaryngologist continues to function as a diagnostician for head and neck symptoms to determine whether these are related to another underlying medical condition or a primary problem involving the head and neck. At this point, treatment for common head and neck problems, such as ear infections, sinusitis, and adult tonsil-related problems, can be performed, or a referral to one of the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck subspecialists, can be initiated.
