Functional Nasal Surgery to Improve Breathing
A well functioning nose and the ability to breathe air through both passages of the nose are important to your quality of life. Nasal obstruction is most commonly caused by a deviated septum and/or nasal valve collapse.
If you’ve got problems with nasal obstruction, you know how annoying this problem can be. Surgery to relieve nasal obstruction is usually covered by most major insurance companies.
Most nasal surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis in a relatively short surgical procedure. This is particularly true when no previous surgery or trauma to the nose has occurred. For patients that have had previous surgery then revision nasal surgery is the next treatment option.
Many surgeons refer revision nasal surgery cases to a university-level center because of their inherent complexity. These types of situations are relatively common in my practice and often we are able to dramatically improve the breathing of patients that require this type of more complex revision surgery.
The recuperation period is from 5-14 days based on the type of surgery you require.
